Brainstorm for ideas
Let the ideas flow!
We suggest:
Brainstorming event ideas with your partners
Ultimately, narrow it down to one specific interfaith event to begin with
Tips for brainstorming:
Encourage everyone at the table to contribute! All ideas are appreciated and valued
Develop an action plan
Put thoughts on paper and start planning out the details.
Here’s what you’ll need:
An event agenda
The scale of event (How many people you plan to involve)
Budget
Materials required (To have a clearer idea on the cost)
A planning team
Processes and checklists for running the event
Set your goals
Goals ensure that the team is headed in the right direction.
Discuss what you want to achieve through this interfaith event, for example:
Help 10 students with their studies
Save 150 lives through blood donation (1 bag can save 3 lives)
Distribute food to 100 families
Give out 100 care packs to students
Celebrate the festive season
Set your budget
Plan your total expenditure and break down the costs
Your budget should include:
Cost of materials
Cost of services from vendors
Look for more partners
We suggest:
Invite more religious organisations to be part of the interfaith event
Share the plan and goals
Invite them to collaborate and/or sponsor
Plan a timeline
Ensure the event runs successfully and on time.
We suggest:
Including a project manager to keep track of the timelines
Involving volunteers to be in-charge of a part of event eg. registration / ushering
Tips to get started with a timeline:
Set a date for the interfaith event
Work out the key milestones eg. when do materials need to arrive by, when to start promoting your event
Find available premises for your event
We suggest:
Using your premises as much as possible. This gives volunteers the opportunity to step into another place of worship
Alternatively, you can search and book event premises online near your places of worship
Always consider if permits are needed from the relevant authorities for the use of public venues
Approach nearby community centres for permit on use of public venues
Search online for the relevant authority tied to the specific public venue
If materials need to be stored at the event venue in advance, consider booking the premises before the event day
Invite volunteers
We suggest:
Prepare flyers of the event with a call for volunteers and distribute it to your organisation
Create a registration form and send it out to your members via social media
Tips to involve youth volunteers:
Work around student holidays
Entrust youths with responsibilities. They will feel believed in
Scope volunteer roles
Determine the different roles needed at the interfaith event.
Examples of roles:
Project Manager
Photographer
Videographer
Marketing in-charge
Prepare communication and collaterals
Things to prepare:
Promotional materials if the event is open to the public
An evaluation form for the volunteers to share their feedback
An opening speech, if needed
Briefings and debriefs
